Both Owen and Michael worked in my lab this summer under the support of my NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduate (REU) supplemental grant, and were advised by graduate students Jiangong Chen, Zhanchen Dong and me. : Undergraduate students, Michael Artlip (EE) and Owen Sweeny (CSE), attended the National Workshop for REU Research in Networking and Systems (REUNS), which was held in Denver, and presented their demo paper “ Virtual Reality-Based Gymnastics Visualization Using Real-Time Motion Capture Suit” and “ A Collaborative Augmented Reality Platform for Interactive and Immersive Education”, respectively.Thanks to graduate students, Jiangong, Xinyi, and Xiaoyi, for their great help. Bose Dissertation Excellence Award for his Ph.D. student, Xudong Qin, received the prestigious Dr. Congratulations to Zhanchen and Jiangong! : Our demo “ Collaborative Mixed-Reality-Based Firefighter Training” received the IEEE INFOCOM 2023 Best Demo Award.He received both the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award and Google Faculty Research Award in 2020, and ACM MobiHoc 2018 Best Poster Award. He is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the ACM. He has served on the technical committees of several major conferences in networking such as ACM MobiHoc, IEEE INFOCOM, and WiOpt. His research focuses on the intersection of networking, machine learning, and system development, and their applications in networking for virtual/augmented reality, mobile edge computing, mobile crowd-learning, and Internet-of-Things (IoT). He was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Coordinated Science Lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University (OSU). degree in Communication and Information Engineering, both from Xiamen University, and Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering, M.S.
